The US dollar (USD) is the second most exchanged currency in Albania. A sizeable Albanian community in the United States sends dollars home, and fuel and many imported goods are priced in dollars.

Should I bring dollars or euros to Albania?

Euros, if you have the choice: they are accepted directly in more places and exchange offices usually quote them with a tighter margin. If you already hold dollars, change them straight into lek in Albania — converting to euros first means paying two margins.

Why does the dollar rate move more than the euro rate?
